Texas Hold’em Rules

The betting structure in Texas Hold’em can be limit, pot-limit, or no-limit. The most popular poker game in the world is No-Limit Hold’em. Texas Hold’em gets played with a “dealer button” and “blinds,” regardless of whether the betting structure is employed. The dealer button (or simply ‘button’) gets placed in front of one player for each hand in holdem poker. The button advances one player to the left once finishing a hand.

The small blind is the player who sits directly to the left of the button, while the big blind is the person who sits directly to the left of the small blind. Before dealing the hand, both of these players place a forced bet (thus the term “blind”). Small blinds are always half (or near half) the price of large blinds.

In a Texas Hold’em game, each player gets handed two hole cards, which the dealer distributes one at a time to each player, starting with the person in the small blind position. Hole cards are kept face down throughout the game, and only the player who is holding them can see them. Following each player’s two hole cards, the first of four betting rounds begins. The betting rounds utilized in Texas Hold’em include preflop, flop, turn, and river.
